Richard is a Principal Naval Architect at Solis Marine providing engineering, design and analysis services to the offshore, shipping and renewables industries. His work includes power and propulsion, concept design, engineering design, and project management.
Since graduating from Ship Science at the University of Southampton, Richard has worked as a designer and technical consultant to sailors and yacht racing teams in many of the major competitions within the sport, such as The America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race, Vendee Globe race, the Olympics and the World Speed Sailing Record. Richard then worked at the Wolfson Unit for Marine Technology and Industrial Aerodynamics followed by the University of Plymouth where he was a lecturer in Mechanical and Marine Design. He has been a principal investigator on numerous Innovate UK funded projects in the area of Clean Propulsion.
