Solis Marine reports Record-Breaking Year in Global Casualty Management

Company Successfully Completes Major Salvage Operations Worldwide While Expanding Expert Team

MARCH 21, 2025 - Solis Marine announced today a record-breaking performance in its casualty management operations for 2024, marking the busiest year in the company's history with multiple high-profile salvage and wreck removal projects successfully completed across four continents.

The company's casualty management business has handled several complex operations including the recovery of a subsea module from 1,300m water depth in Western Australia, wreck removals in Indonesia and Chile, and coordination of the notable 'MARINE HONOUR' oil spill response in Singapore.

"2025 has also got off to a busy start and we will continue to grow our team slowly but surely to ensure we have sufficient expertise available to effectively and efficiently respond to these incidents."

Notable completed casualty management operations in 2024 included:

  • Recovery operations in the Jansz Field, Western Australia at 1,300m water depths
  • Complete wreck removal of car carrier 'SERASI 1' in Indonesian waters
  • Management of planned wreck removal of ‘SLYVIA MARY’ off Lands End, UK
  • Appointment of contractors for successful removal of ‘ESTRELLA DEL MAR’ in the Galapagos Islands
  • Coordination of the oil spill response for the 'MARINE HONOUR' incident in Singapore
  • Management of the wreck removal of fish carrier 'HEIMDALL' in Chile
  • Port of Refuge management and facilitating transhipment of dangerous goods cargo for bulk carrier 'RUBY' in the UK
  • Salvage of grounded bulk carrier 'PATRICIA OLDENDORF' in Vietnam

The company also reports several ongoing operations including assisting insurers with the cargo issues on a fire-damaged car carrier in Malaysia, multiple wreck removals in Indonesia and Malaysia, and a further salvage operation in Europe.

In response to increased activity, Solis Marine has expanded its casualty management team with the addition of Captain Jamie Simpson (UK)and Captain Neil Minnitt (Singapore). Captain Simpson has also been appointed as a member the Special Casualty Representative (SCR) panel at Lloyd's, joining existing Solis SCR panel members Ros Blazejczyk, John Simpson and Ken Ellam. Additional casualty support is also provided but the growing team of naval architects both in the UK and Singapore offices.

The 'MARINE HONOUR' oil spill response in Singapore stands as one of the company's most significant operations of the year. Acting as project managers for the vessel's insurers and working closely with Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), National Environment Agency, and other government agencies, Solis Marine coordinated both offshore and shoreline oil spill response across multiple affected areas including Keppel Bay, East Coast Park, Sentosa and the Southern Islands as well as Johor, Malaysia.
