Members of the Singapore Masters hockey team visited the Solis Marine office to present the team with a token of appreciation for their sponsorship of the team for the World Cup campaign in Cape Town in October.
We were delighted to welcome Rachel Flynn, Su Hodjatzadeh and Jodie Bishop to join us at the office with teammate Ros Blazejczyk and Ken Ellam, Shann Khong and Jun Hao Liew from Solis Singapore. The players presented a commemorative Singapore jersey and framed team photo to mark the occasion of the Singapore women's first appearance at a hockey world cup.
Singapore Women’s Over40 Masters field hockey team reached the quarter finals of the Masters Hockey World Cup, ending the tournament ranked eighth out of 16 teams. Solis Marine were one of six main sponsors who supported the team for this campaign having also provided sponsorship for the Asian Continental Cup last year in Hong Kong, where Singapore won the gold medal.
Singapore team manager Maxine Chia said: “Our goal was to reach the quarterfinals which we have accomplished. This was an excellent result for Singapore considering the limited pool of 23 players we have to choose from, compared to nations like Australia where between 5,000 and 7,000 women are registered to play Masters hockey.
“None of this would have been possible without the support of our sponsors, whose contribution played a huge part in making it possible for the team to travel to Cape Town to participate. We are delighted that we were able to come away with historic wins against hockey giants, Germany and South Africa, and hopefully make our supporters proud of the team's accomplishments".
Solis Marine is glad to have been able to support the team over the past two years along with their mission to encourage more women and girls to participate in team sports. We look forward to seeing what 2025 brings.
