Jun Hao has commenced a 4-year PhD on the ‘Analysis of Ammonia Dispersion Behaviour under influence of Operational and Weather Conditions during Ship Bunkering’ whilst Andrew will study for an MPhil on a ‘Novel Design for Autonomous Submersible Surveyor’.
The programmes are funded by the Singapore Economic Development Board which supports companies to build a pool of post graduate manpower with critical R&D skillsets. Supervision will be provided by the Newcastle Research & Innovation Institute (NewRIIS) which is part of Newcastle University in Singapore. Jun Hao and Andrew remain based in the Solis Marine Singapore office and will continue to assist the wider Solis Marine team whilst liaising closely with our engineering division to ensure their research is both relevant and beneficial to our work in alternative fuels and clean shipping.
Solis Marine CEO, Ros Blazejczyk said “We are very pleased to be able to benefit from the EDB’s Industrial Postgraduate Programme which has allowed us to support Jun Hao and Andrew in pursuing these R&D programmes whilst remaining as employees and continuing to contribute to the team at Solis Marine. Both projects cover exciting research areas chosen specifically to contribute to our ongoing work in alternative fuels and clean shipping as well as focusing on individual areas of interest. Andrew and Jun Hao are key members of our team in Singapore with both having played critical roles in the recent oil spill response coordination work, so we are glad they will remain as part of our team whilst still being able to pursue these post graduate opportunities. We all wish them both all the best with their studies.”
Jun Hao and Andrew will be providing regular updates as to their progress which will be posted on the Solis Marine website.
