Solis Marine heads to Rio De Janeiro with the UK Department for Business and Trade

Solis Marine was invited to join a trade mission organised by the UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and Santander UK, meeting with major players in the Brazilian offshore oil and gas market with a focus on decommissioning.

Solis Marine's Head of Project Engineering, Christophe Dormenval, attended the trade mission with eleven other delegates representing UK companies. The week started with a learning session on how to conduct business in Brazil which was hosted by Tauil & Chequer Advogados. The group had the opportunity to learn about the decommissioning scenario and the business opportunities that may arise, as well as the legal, regulatory and cultural aspects to be considered.

The delegation then met with a variety of companies, from the multinational energy corporation Petrobras to independent companies such as PRIO, Trident and Brava. The trade mission also met with subsea well intervention experts Helix, FPSO operators SBM offshore and Modec, as well as EPRD specialists Ocyan and Halliburton.

The week allowed Solis Marine to gain an insight into the many opportunities existing within the maritime and offshore sector in Brazil and how we can implement our innovative offshore engineering capabilities to contribute to this growing sector.
