The Nautical Institute held their annual conference in Singapore last week and Solis Marine’s Captain Ken Ellam, as Vice-Chair of the NI, reflects on the event which attracted a record attendance.
“This was the most successful @Nautical Institute Singapore conference to date, attracting a record attendance of 221 delegates and I think this really was a reflection of the excellent speakers, presentations and panel discussions that centred on this year’s theme of “Charting a Greener World – Dealing with Sustainability, Emergency Preparedness, and Seafarer Well-being”.
As Vice-Chair of the NI Singapore branch, I know how hard the organising committee work to prepare the annual conference and so to see this rewarded with lively debate over the really important issues that are facing seafarers and the wider industry today was excellent.”
Featuring on the panel discussion considering emergency preparedness for alternative fuels, Solis Marine’s Ros Blazejczyk drew on recent project experience to highlight the design approach for alternative fuels as well as commenting on how the approach to emergency response is likely to change as a result.
