Solis Marine Consultants
Solis Marine was established in the UK and Singapore in 2012 to provide independent expert advice on maritime and shipping incidents including salvage and wreck removal. The company expanded to Hong Kong in 2013 and continues to maintain strong connections in Hong Kong following many years’ of experience working there.
In 2017 Solis Marine expanded in China, opening in Shanghai, followed by Qingdao and Xiamen in 2018. The Shanghai office provides expert mariner services and is further supported by the teams in Qingdao and Xiamen for general survey services and incident response.
The Group also includes Solis Marine Engineering which was established in 2018 and is headquartered in Falmouth, UK, with a branch in Singapore. Supported by a team of eight naval architects and structural engineers, Solis Marine Engineering is the centre of our marine engineering, research and global design excellence.
In 2022, Solis Marine decided to extend its existing UK presence to provide our expertise and experience of offshore wind and other renewable energy, alternative fuels and propulsion, including vessel design, directly to clients in the Humber and North East of England. The company’s Hull office also serves as a base for our incident investigation and reconstruction, salvage and wreck removal and marine engineering services.
Senior consultants within the company have given expert evidence in court and/or arbitration and Solis Marine has three Special Casualty Representatives (SCRs) on the panel at Lloyd’s who have been heavily involved in a number of high profile and politically sensitive wreck removal and salvage operations.
Our team of Naval Architects all have practical salvage and wreck removal experience working on behalf of both vessel owners / insurers as well as directly for salvors.
Expert reports have been prepared for court and arbitration hearings on collisions, groundings, tugs and manoeuvring, unsafe ports and berths, cargo issues, passage planning, fire and oil spill response, personal injury, vessel operations, prudent seamanship and damage to submarine pipelines.
In 2021 Solis Marine formed the Alliance network to further grow our global reach, providing dedicated, local support to our activities in the field and introducing new areas of expertise and additional resources into the Group.
We have since entered into agreements with carefully selected providers of expert services to the shipping and offshore sectors and although we remain independent organisations, we refer to each member of the network as a partner. All of our Alliance partners share Solis Marine’s commitment to the highest levels of service on behalf of our clients.
