SME have been working with WITT Ltd to support development of their subsea energy harvester, which is suitable for areas with marine currents. This unique device enables charging of subsea equipment to achieve savings in relation to the cost usually associated with battery pack replacement. SME have provided performance prediction through simulation in OrcaFlex and model testing in the Solent University Tow Tank. The project was supported by InnovateUK and SME look forward to supporting WITT in several applications of the device and eventual in field testing.
